These songs are addled by alcohol and rattled by misguided romance. The music is country at heart, but not necessarily country in sound. In fact, one might hear a little bit of Chicago\/Thrill Jockey within these grooves, maybe a bit of classic noise rock a la Polvo, with Matthew Schneider's pedal steel playing a uniquely dynamic role - but what thrills us the most about this music is the yearning, beating heart at the center of it all. The music is loose but dense, the delivery confessional and earnest.
