Primus’ second studio full-length delivered big on the Bay Area screwballs’ feverishly inspired brand of heavy-as-heck and funk-centric alt-metal. Bassist-vocalist Les Claypool’s thwacked-thumbed-and-tapped exuberance is on full display through the eternally motor-revving “Jerry Was a Racecar Driver,” while guitarist Larry “Ler” LaLonde is a squirrely, impressionistic force of nature throughout the LP. Other spectacular oddities include the Tom Waits-guesting “Tommy the Cat,” live concert staple “Those Damned Blue Collar Tweekers” and more. Dog will hunt, and you can chase down this fine-aged and funky hunk of Primus for yourself on limited “Cheese Melt”-colored vinyl.
