Record Store Day 2025: Line Rules and Lists
Hi friends, can't wait to see you next week. Wanted to share some reminders of how we do things and why.
NO LINES (before 10 am on April 12th):
One of our most unique things is we don't want people to line up over night. That's right, we don't want you to line up and, importantly, if you do, we will send you away. Yes, we have done this, and will again. Why do we do this? lines benefit those folks who have the time and capacity to spend a night doing so, and then cut out fans who don't. Shops love them because they feed the exclusivity and make it appear popular: which shop doesn't love having people dying to get in?
But we want to have a fair experience that benefits fans new and old alike, so we invented the no line policy. This lets people who don't have a ton of time off or don't know the secrets get the same shot at the special inventory. Also, we're a record store, not a club or restaurant; we don't want to get up super early ever! sleep in! enjoy it. Some people even go to other stores that do open up super early and then come to ours after. two stores with more chances, imagine that?
How it works in real life: at about 10 am, Michael will come out and start the line, then people can form up in the designated spot and direction (we'll change both if people get squirrelly about trying to manipulate the line). Then we'll have our typical snacks and coffee for folks, and have a low key time. We'll let folks in about 10 at a time to get a slower more relaxed time.
So, come hang out, just not too early. Thanks!
